    Since 1986, Kingfisher WoodWorks of Wilder VT has manufactured wooden swords and staffs for movie sets and the martial art community. In 2010, seeking to improve the physical properties of wood, we introduced products with acrylic resin drawn through the wood structure. Using premium quality lumber, we called it "enhanced" to differentiate it from common stabilized wood, a material produced with a method known to most hobbyists for the production of small scale items, especially knife handles and pen blanks.

    In early 2025 we discovered resin/dye combinations, again with premium lumber, that produced stunningly beautiful patterns, astounding hardness, and a high density that rivaled the most expensive exotic wood. We called it the chromL family of enhanced wood.
